Probably a 70-200 f2.8 - nice and sharp, good range and can always add a TC for additonal reach if necessary

For film, it'd have to be a 40mm. (Does Nikon make one?)

For digital (APS-C), a 28mm. (Or 31mm for my Pentax.)

The 40mm f2.8 G macro lens is only for DX (APS-C).

I would have to go with my AF-S 80-200. Just love using that bulk of a lens.

Good to know. Thanks!

I have a 40mm for my Pentax, which is an ok FL, but I prefer to use it on my film cameras (even tho it's an APS-C lens, it works great on film cameras that allow aperture setting through the body).

I've got a  35mm for my Nikon film camera, but would like a little more.

I think I'm in the minority wanting this FL in a prime.

Had to post this one... Was playing around with my new Sigma f2.8 150mm Macro and took a close up of my dog Daisy... When looking at the photo I realised I could see myself in the reflection of her eye...

If you want to step up from 35mm on Full Frame, you'd have to go to 50mm.

Just checked B&H.

There's this: http://www.bhphotovi..._Ultron_SL.html

And this lens would be a lot of fun (if I could afford it): http://www.bhphotovi...ikkor_45mm.html

Well I have quite a bag full, but the one lens that stays on most of the time is the 18-200 which I bought before the 300 came out. I also have the big old version of the 80-400. I have the 50 1.8, and a wide angle off brand 11-17. Fact is I would miss every lens not in my bag if I had to choose, so glad for choices.

This is the lens I will be using for this challenge.

That's a hard one but I'd have to say the Nikon 24-70 2.8. That's what I use the majority of the time. Love it to bits.

I'm with Andy on the 70-200 f/2.8 and teleconverter...just have too much fun with that lens...that said, I'm not sure if that's what I'll use for the challenge though...

Andy - also a David Price fan...however, you might be the first I've heard of from the UK ...

Fyi, that Voigtlander is a manual focus lens.

I'd love a tilt/ shift lens, too. For the price, I'll stick to fixing converging verticals in post processing!

You know, as a shooter of all kinds of things, it occurs to me that this discussion is a lot like the "one gun" discussion.

Ever heard the saying, "Beware the man with one gun"?

If you only have one, and you know how to use it, you will be awesome with it.

Very true. There are times I'll go out with just one lens and I find it forces me to be more creative with composition and content... shooting things that I wouldn't normally "see" with another lens, or a bag full of them.

I guess there are advantages to both situations. Having just one or having them all.

Tray having just one prime lens....that will challenge you.

There are "street photographers" that only use one lens their whole career.

Peace
