My combination for this week will be the D300 and Samyang 8/3.5 Fisheye. We'll see how much I shoot this week as I have an appointment for some surgery on Tuesday.

If anyone else wants to shoot any single focal length with me for a week, feel free to post what you get in this thread.

Okay, I'll do my best to participate in this one.  I will go with my 10.5mm fisheye.  (Consider me inspired). Not sure that I'll get a shot per day, but I will do my best.  I'll snap on the 10.5 and leave it there for the week.

The bike buried in a decimeter of snow is *not* a good start to the week.

I seldom do selfies, but in this light, I couldn't resist it.

I'm loving this.   It's killing me though.  I could totally inundate you with questions.  "What's this?" or "What's that building?" or "Are the skylights always red or did they just do that for Christmas?" or "what's that over there?".

The D300 shows it's age the most when shooting in available dark.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense to me either, but it makes me laugh when I look at it.

A shot just before sunset out of my office window (3rd floor, downtown office).  That orange glow coming off the horizon is the sun shining through a huge cloud of smoke blowing across the outskirts of the city from a wildfire.  (The wind was blowing in excess of 30mph today).  I did catch some of the reflection of my office lights in the glass.  I probably should have shut off my office lights before I snapped this.

This week was a bit short for me as I have mostly felt sorry for myself this weekend after my dental surgery on tuesday. It will be the last of these this year, but I will do something the week ending January 15. I am not sure what focal length I will use next but I will do *something*. If anyone wants to do some single-lens shooting over the holidays, just start a thread.

Shane, the red "skylights" aren't skylights, they are translucent lucite panels with fluorescent lighting and lee lighting foil that colours the light. They change the gels depending on what decorations they hang in the ceiling.

Most of the photos are shot during my lunch breaks within a 10-block radius from the city library downtown.

Sorry to hear of the dental surgery--I really dislike going to the dentist! You and Thumper did some fantastic work with your fisheyes this week--I really enjoyed watching this thread.

So, I actually did some shooting with my 105mm this week to participate in this challenge. These shots are spread out over the week--I don't have time to process and upload every night, so it'll just have to be a bulk upload at the end of the week.

First, a shot to show Peter that I have followed his advice and packed a camera bag that can double as a handbag to work every day this week (one of those taken with my 105mm, of course) :

A couple taken on different nights on my way home from work:

I tried a variety of things with this lens just to see what it could do--landscape, action, portrait, a lame attempt at macro...

I'm not sure I really played to the lens's strengths, but I'm still learning it. I've had it for awhile and rarely use it. I need to get to know more about what I can do with it, so this was a good exercise for me. I will probably stick with this lens for the next few single lens challenges (when you start them up again).

Great set, Nicole!!   As discussed in a different thread, those 105mm Micro's have a bit of a learning curve right out of the box, but you sure are turning out much better than I have with mine.  I think that is probably why I like my 105mm Micro is that it challenges me more to use it.  But once you get it dialed in for yourself, you can really do some cool things with it.  (As well exampled by your set here).  Nice work!

All of the shots are great, but that snowflake shot is just amazing.

And I want to thank Peter again for another great set of shots of Upsalla.   I never get tired of seeing shots like those from other parts of the world.  I could just look at photos like those all day.
