Hi,

I have an elderly but still very effective D80. I'm trying (so far without success) to print directly from it to a Canon CP300 dye-sub 6x4 photo printer (a forerunner of the Canon Selphy).

So far, I've tried replacing the USB cable, carefully reviewing and then stepping through the manual retrying the steps 'by the book'. The printer seems to initialise as normal (usual clicks and whirs, green status light), but when I connect the D80 to it via USB and power up the camera, I get a black screen - no Pictbridge logo, no photos to select, nothing. I'm shooting in JPEG (Fine) (I already know I can't directly print RAW files).

Any thoughts, anyone? About the only thing I haven't tried, that I can think of, is to try printing from a computer to verify that the printer itself isn't the problem, but right now it looks like a camera issue. The D80 is on firmware version 1.10.

Hi Richard,

I would certainly try printing from the computer...In those rare times I print photos, I always print from the computer vs. the camera...but part of that is I want to print my edited versions vs. originals...
