Most likely is will work with the d600, which has an Ai coupling mechanism. Most lenses in Nikon mount made after 1977 should work. Older lenses can be modified for ~$25.
If you post a picture of the lens showing the aperture ring it will be easy to tell.

Yes, please show us the aperture ring as some of the Soligor 28-70 zooms were introduced right around 1977 and if it is pre-Ai, it can easily break the Ai coupling on the body unless modified.

This one is Ais compatible, so it is safe to use. If you look at the aperture ring, there is a notch at the f/16 mark. This contacts the aperture follower on the body. If that notch wasn't there, the ring would distort the finger on the body and could easily damage it if you tried to mount an earlier model.
