Since my daughter was born two years ago, I feel like I've lost my sense of photographing anything or anybody else. Appreciate any feedback on these different styles of people pictures, which I generally liked at the time I took them. I'm hoping hearing any outside perspective will nudge me back towards actually seeing right again.

Your daughter will only be this age once in your life. Enjoy it, take lots of pictures of her- and of the things that you do together.

I took a lot of pictures, and enjoyed everywhere that we went.

I knew the photo was of your student, as you stated your daughter was born two years ago and had a caption for your posted pictures.

I'm sure you have a lot of good portraits of your daughter. The one of mine was taken over 16 years ago.

Unless you are being paid to do a photoshoot, shoot what you want to and don't feel guilty about it. If taking pictures of your daughter makes you happy, do that.

Still makes me happy after 18 years. And even happier that she still liked Dad taking her picture.

Having kids isn't always plain sailing, there will be times when she will not have her photo taken, so take the opportunities when you can and take the photos that you want to take.

And then, she may even ask you to take that special photo, like my daughter did this year. I have always refused to do weddings, not wanting the responsibility. She knew this so approached me tactfully - "Dad... I know you wont be a wedding photographer, but I like your style, don't take wedding photos, just take your photos".  I couldn't really refuse, so as well as giving her away, and driving the wedding car, and all the other jobs, I took my photos.  At certain times, I handed a camera to other people, but, with a bit of planning, and the CLS flash system,  I took my photos.

Thanks for the replies, encouragement and sharing shots of your own lovely girls.

I didn't mean to imply I was in any way feeling guilty that all my photographic energy is directed at my kid, who is great, and I have lots of shots of her I'm proud of. But since I'm not sharing them outside a tight circle of people (agreement between the wife and I), photography's kind of ceased to be the hobby it was and more a task-specific skill to document my daughter. I miss having new material to share the way I did before.
