Yesterday I discovered my long lost extension tubes, and with great fervour I attached it (first to the lens, then the whole caboodle to the camera (D70) - see, I did my homework first).

But that action bought to a halt my whole macro expedition (actually my whole future took on a different tone altogether, but I do not want to sound overly dramatic).... I managed to attach the lens to the camera end and visa versa. Needless to say I was able to detach the lens pretty easily; the camera is stuck. Solidly.

Can this be remedied at all?

(We never ask how the seemingly impossible could happen so easily...)

How old is the extension tube- is it a Nikon brand tube?

My closest experience with this is from 1990 when a T-Mount adapter went onto the camera and would not come off UNTIL a screw in the mount was drilled out. It hung up on the electrical contacts of the camera. I sent it to Nikon, it came back with the screw drilled out.

Might be cheaper just to replace your D70!!  (Sorry  )

Can you get the lens off the tube?

Other than jiggling the tube while pressing the lens release button I can't offer much help.
