Hi lads,

I just saw a video from Tony Northrup regarding moon shots, and couldnt help trying to do some with my D800E, considering I only tried with D5200 in the past...

I did not use tripod - all done handheld for this time around... Wanted to stack it using the tool he adviced in the video Registax - however, it won't really allow me to stack anything.....

Any suggestiosn for software, freeware would be great, and hope for automatic process.

Cheers

Hoping for freeware and 64bit... - Getting sick of 'out of memory' because of 32bit software....

Registax will stack, but it's hard work. A lot of the time, it doesn't seem to be doing much, but when it's finished, it's very good. I doubt I could get a good result now, without a lot of playing about with it, such is my memory :-)

If you are Linux inclined, Avistack is ok.

Otherwise, you can manually stack in GIMP.

AutoStakkert!2 works well for windows users I know. It is still 32-bit but seems well-behaved.

Download – AutoStakkert!

It says my pictures are too big(pixel size), then it will import them anyway... But after I align then the software freezes - even 2 pictures I gave 30 min, nothing except it locks up...

Are you sure it's locking up? It may just be taking its' time!

I ten to leave it overnight, just in case it's busy.

I'd be suprised if 4 cores 8 threads running 4500MHz cannot merge 2 pictures in half an hour.
