Would a fisheye lens be suitable for good night shots ?

My next project is to try/Improve my night time photography. I took some shots many years ago with film, that turned out pretty good, but haven't tried since I got into the digital age. When it warms up just a bit, (it's 14 degrees now) I'd like to capture a few lightning strikes, fireworks, and of course the moon. Waiting for the thaw!!!
