I'd rather say 60-s as the Citroën is a B11 1950 and the bus is a Scania S10 1966. The bus was the first one made for driving on the right Scania Vabis delivered to UST, the city bus company in Uppsala. The Scania Vabis buses in the late 40-s were a bit more rounded both front and rear and those sold for the Swedish market had the passenger doors on the left up until the autumn 1966 as we drove on the left until September 2 1967. The door placement is the only thing that dates the bus with any certainty and the export versions had the doors on the right and looked quite similar from about 1957 or so.
How did the transition from left to right hand driving go. That has to have the makins for complete mayhem.
Rail travel is my favorite way to travel.
After two years of preparation, all went well. There were some hilarious situations just as the changeover occurred. Military officers added to the police force to direct traffic and draftees were utilized as crossing guards for the first days after the reschedule to remind pedestrians to look in the right direction.
