Hello,

 

I am not able to use my d5100 which is not accepting Sd cards.

I tried to purchase different SD cards (Sony 16go, Standisk 16go) following the message :'' Memory card cannot be used. could be damaged, Please insert another card''; but am still facing the same issue.

 

Anyone could help me ?

Have you tried formatting using your PC, and is the write switch unlocked?

Fred, as this has happened with multiple SD cards, has it ever worked for you since you got the camera? If so, when did it start?

It could be that, while badly inserting an SD card, one of the pins in the cardslot on the camera was bend or even broken. You can do a visual check to see if there is such problem.

It could also be that the contacts are simply oxydised, in which case, apllying some deoxydisation product softly, could help.

Thanks for the assistance, yes the write switch is unlocked.

Can you please advise how to format the camera using a PC, when I connect it I see that the folder is empty (as not SD card inserted)

To format a card with the PC, you need a card reader. I think that Jerry is right, unfortunately, and the camera might need a trip to a service center.
