I took my daughter to pick strawberries at a local field, and I tested the new Tamron 24-70 while I was at it.

Very nice! I haven't been super impressed with either of my Tamron lenses, but you, dcBear, and several others are getting quite good results...I'm starting to think that it's either me or my camera...hm. These are lovely photos though--your daughter is beautiful, and it makes me wish we had a strawberry field nearby!
Thank you. Some of the guys have said that their Tamron lenses need significant focus adjustments, if that's the problem you're having.
It seems really slow to focus--I've been using the 70-200mm for sports and other action, and it just doesn't cut it. I miss more than half of the shots. And yes, the focus often seems off, even when speed is not the issue. Do you know--would I go straight to Tamron for focus adjustment?

You would just have to create a micro adjustment for the lens in your camera using a test chart and averaging the adjustment needed over the focal range. If it's way off you could send it in for warranty adjustment, I would think. Some of the guys were saying that there's a bug where some of the cameras see the 24-70 and the 70-200 as the same lens so only one profile can be made. I only have the 24-70, so I can't verify. Most of my photos have been posed, so far, but I did have a little trouble keeping up with a blue bird that happened to get pretty close and wasn't very fearful.
For sport like shots, in that range, I use the Sigma 100-300/4 which was going for the low 300s on eBay last I checked.
