So as some of you may remember, I drive a truck over the road, all over the US. A couple of days ago, I stopped off in North Carolina and met up with Tbonz, aka Tom. We went out to supper, along with his wife, and had a few beers, talked photography and had a few other things. Today we had a conversation which made me think, I wonder if others would be interested in doing the same thing.  A couple of things to consider is, it will almost always be fairly short notice. Sometimes I can give a day or two, sometimes less. I also may not always be able to get to your particular town, but perhaps in the general vicinity. I'd have to have a place to park a big truck. With Tom, I was able to use a Walmart parking lot. Not all walmarts allow this though and a close truck stop is usually a better bet. If not, any place that you've seen trucks park on a regular basis. When I visit family in Houston, I park on a side street next to an apartment complex. Sometimes I just have a couple of hours, other times I may have more time. If we are going anywhere other than where I'm parked, I'd have to ride with you most likely. I'd never ever expect anyone to change plans to meet. If I let you know I'll be in your area at a certain time, don't ever hesitate to say, sorry I've already made plans, no hard feelings. If you're headed out to shoot somewhere, I may be interested in going along provided I have the time, you have the room, and don't mind.

I may only be driving through September or October of this year, or possibly through next summer. I'm considering getting off the road so I can shoot more consistently. So this offer does have an 'up in the air' time frame.  If anyone is interested, just leave a comment as to where you are in the US and I'll let you know if I'm headed to your area. I know this is a little unusual, so no hard feelings if no one is.

PS. I'm not the stereotypical truck driver who never showers and dresses like he hasn't washed clothes in a month  :D

If you are ever in the Maricopa AZ area, 30 miles south of Phx off I-10, look me up.  You can park in a few places around town as I see trucks/trailers parked next to the local Fry's grocery store all the time.  Being retired, I have lots of time, except when we are traveling.

I occasionally pick up in Casa Grande at the Daisy plant, though I haven't in awhile. My brother and his family live in Mesa. I usually only visit with them if I get through on the weekend since the kids are in school. I'll certainly keep you in mind next trip through

On the other side of the "meet-up", we had a wonderful time!  My biggest disappointment was that he beat me on picking up the tab!  But, I'll get him next time!  From another conversation on the Forums, that is why I was sure his D5 / 70-200 combo had already been in the vicinity of adult beverages!  It is a beautiful camera and I really appreciated getting the opportunity to hold it and get a closer look!

I am very happy that we finally got the opportunity to meet up and we are already looking forward to the next time!  Maybe we will even get the chance to shoot together next time!
