Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 6 March 2016, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style--just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. The editing exercise has started up again, so come play with us. And we had to start it a bit late this week because of me--sincerest apologies!

I'll start off the week with some photos of the drag races last weekend.  It has been many years since I attended a national championship.  This was the NHRA National Championships in Chandler AZ.  I was seated about 50 yards from the race track, I used my D750 with my new Tamron 70-300.  One photo, the Patron Tequila car was shot with my Sony A600, 16-50 lens.

Since we kinda have a motorsports theme going I love the below shot of my favorite racing discipline: Showroom stock. I didn't know it at the time, but about 3 seconds after the shutter fired the Mustang passed the Porsche for the lead and went on to win.

I did motorsport last time I had something to contribute to best of the week. Back to normal this week.

edit: Thought I might add some details here... D810, Tamron 70-200mm f2.8 VC @ 200mm, 1/200s, f9, ISO 64

I generally shoot my studio shots between f7.1 and f11 depending on the lighting desired and available. This was shot with a gridded 22" beauty dish boomed high and to camera left (see shadow under nose to get idea on location of the light) and a softbox straight on to fill some shadows.

And here is another. Same details as above except f10 and moved the beauty dish to the other side.

Well, I'm going to jump in early for a change...I've only processed one image from this weekend's 4 baseball games...You may remember the last Edit Challenge with my images included two photos of a baseball pitcher and a rugby image.  The pitcher is a good friend and roommate of my son's and for the first time in his college career is playing outfield when he isn't pitching.  That means he is also batting and he has been hitting quite well all season.  Sunday was probably his worst day hitting, but Monday I was lucky enough to get a decent capture of his first college home run which ended up being critical to the team's winning the game.  For those who don't know baseball, a home run is typically a ball hit over the fence in the outfield so the other team has no chance to make a play on it, thus the hitter gets to run all the way around the bases back to home plate so that he (or she) and all runners who were on base score a run.  My wife headed out beyond the fence and found the ball so that he will have a souvenir of his big hit.

I was able to freeze the bat pretty well at 1/2000 but the movement of the ball is still obvious...not a problem, just pointing it out...

My first shots from the D7000 that I'm allowed to show - the others were commercial shots.

Nite watches invite photographs of their products, so today I took these.

Such a nice day here I thought I would get out for a while and do some shooting. Alas my wife  had other ideas. I did get out to the yard for a while and practiced my shooting with out looking thru the view finder. here is one of the shots I took of one of her flowers.  I used the D200 and 18-55 lens

I'm adding another one (because it saves me creating a dedicated thread).

Another shot of Kaitlyn. It wasn't totally planned this shot. otherwise I would have posed her in a less awkward position. But I had my lights set up for Rembrandt lighting and I happen to move over under the light giving a more tradition beauty lighting to her face. Was also before we wet her hair down so a slightly softer look.

This one I have worked on quite a bit. I was undecided about the prevalence of her pores but finally decided to smooth them over a bit. Quite a bit has gone into this photo and I am learning more as I go (thanks to Youtube).

Great eyes.

aww... thanks

edit: ohh.. You mean her?  :D

That is one of the things I have been working on with my editing. Trying not to overdo the eyes. Trying to keep them natural but super clear.
