Does anyone else think this new site is too fragmented?  There is no way I am going to trawl all these different forums and sub forums to read.

Why is there 5+ subforums under FX ?  The site has a search function if you want to weed out the other cameras. They should all be in together.

This needs to be looked at urgently before people get put off and don't return.

Initially everyone need to be in together like a community not scattered lightly through 50 subforums where they rarely interact.

You have a point :)  I've nuked a lot of categories that I found to be redundant after seeing who posted what where.

Building a comprehensive website like this is extremely challenging, almost a full time job. Our group just shutdown it's forum and website after 10+ years of operation (http://autofocuspa.com/forum.php) and during that time we fiddled with the size and number of categories multiple times. It's really difficult to decide what to keep and what to merge and what to dump. Especially when you're still in the launch phase. Our "rule of thumb" was if a category didn't receive any activity in a month we'd make a post or entry to see if it would draw attention. If it sat cold for a whole quarter... our members didn't find it useful and the posts would get merged into a more general category.

You folks are doing a very nice job on building a dynamic community so far; the site looks nice and the forum is vibrant and growing.
