Congrats on the new toy. Did you buy the 600/4 VR to go with it?

I am jealous.
No need to be. I'm sure they'll sell you one too.

And I'm at the D4 so not too much "in front" of you but right now, as much as I would enjoy a D5, I think I'd pick the 600 !

I thought you had a 600... or are you talking about the lens?

Getting good practice with my 200-400 and I have a good monopod and a good tripod so shouldn't be an issue...well, other than the money to buy it...
Hopefully I will get the lens and OTR will get his D5 and we can meet up to see how well they work together! Of course, his D5 may be way out of date before I can get a 600 f4!!!

I officially pulled the trigger on a D5 this morning. Since I wasn't in on the initial preorder frenzy, I likely won't get mine on the initial release, especially since I'm not an NPS member nor do I know an NPS member. Hopefully it won't be months after.. Pretty excited regardless!
Dude!!! Congrats!! I am excited for you, and I am anxious to hear how you like and to see your images. (I party with everyone when they get new gear. I am tickled to see new/used/new to you gear being acquired).

With the new Canon out, with higher fps, though lower native ISO, and $500 less, there is speculation of a Nikon price drop before release. Here's to hoping!
Maybe. But I wouldn't count on it. I'm just hoping for another Nikon lens rebate sale in the next couple of months... but, I'm not counting on that either.
On the other hand... the guys who jump ship each time the other side comes out with a new top gun must be having a fit. What to do????

I guess that answers my question - meant to ask whether you went XQD or CF...
I thought about sticking with cf, but I couldn't bring myself to throttle the camera with a slower card.
