Some time ago I moved from the D90 to the D7000 and definitely noticed some improvement even though the D90 is a great camera...I'm sure you'll enjoy the 7100...

out of curiosity, how is the video option on the D7000 and the D7100? I also have kids I would like to use the video option for, the D90 is a bit slow and choppy?? Any feedback on those?
You were thinking about the upgrade last October. Did it happen, if so what did you go for and how has it performed? I know questions, questions, questions....

Thanks guys... I'm so torn... I grew up with film and went to college with it so when the digital age evolved I grew to love digital even tho I said I wouldn't and the dx is the only model I've had now with the full frame option open I'm torn I have read thousands of reviews and I always pick the minds of other photogs I still don't know which way to go both have some outstanding attributes. Thank you for your feedback and you guys are awesome!!!
I think it depends on what you shoot. If you shoot bird and sports it may be one answer and if you shoot fashion and travel it may be a different answer. Please share with us how you plan on using the camera and you will get better, more cogent replies.

I got a fantastic deal on a D7000 (less than 4 months old) with 3 lenses, a tripod and Lowe Pro case for 950 bucks via craigslist.
I was going to go directly from my D90 to the D7100 but for the price and equipment I couldn't resist so I pulled the trigger.
There are some very strong deals on the D7000 with a lot of kit attached.
Shop around. =)
