I recently purchased a Nikon 35mm f/1.4 AI-S manual focus lens. Gorgeous condition, everything seems to be in excellent working order. I attached it to my Nikon D610 and everything is razor sharp up to 1.5 meters. Anything beyond that, even at f16, is blurry, out of focus or out of focusing range. That doesn't sound right as it has "infinity" on it's focus ring.
Is there something I missed? Do I require any other adapters for the older lenses? Or it is just a bad copy and should return it?

Sounds like it needs adjusting. It has probably been opened and reassembled wrong by a previous owner.

This lens uses a floating element, so the focus mechanism is a bit more complex than a regular fixed-focal length lens. It sounds like the lens is defective.
