I wonder why they have jumped up so much in the naming convention on the Speedlight?

We can always hope that it means a new line with radio link.

Of course they are going to change to a new line...makes perfect sense to me that they announce a new top end flash on the very day that my SB-910 arrived!  That's the way it goes!

On the other hand, SB-910 speedlites won't be obsolete for many years... I still use SB-24 sometimes.

The last time we saw a revamp of the numbering scheme was with i-TTL with the SB-800 that replaced the SB-28DX.

I know!  I just find the timing ironic...Considering how long I've resisted stepping up to the SB-910, it had to happen!    :D

There's even talk of an SB-920 and I don't discount it for a second. The SB-9xx line has been a major money maker for Nikon.

However, I too am hoping (Please Nikon, PLEASE!) for a wireless (radio controlled) speedlight. If the SB-5000 (or whatever) is wireless and even remotely decent, it will be a sure hit. In my humble opinion, wireless RC flash control is even more important than wireless sharing to facebook or whatever... The D5 should have RC wireless flash control built in. /rant

I'm still using my SB-28... used it last night in fact in a two flash arrangement. It served as the main light while my SB-700 served as fill. Worked great.
