Nikon has dropped US lens prices across the board for November.  Most lenses are being discounted by $100 or 200, but savings on the most expensive lenses range up to $1600

Guess they are feeling the heat from tamron and sigma who have really pushed their quality and kept significantly lower prices. I don't think anyone disputes nikon glass is better, but in some instances, the small difference isn't worth the huge price gap.

Also B&H needs to edit better. Many of the lenses show the original price to be the same as the new price after discount.

No new discounts in the UK. Been waiting to see if the 24-70mm f/2.8G ED AF-S IF-ED would drop due to the newer model coming out but pricese remain the same. May have to look at a second hand purchase.

I expect there will be some going into the used market...I'm sure there are folks out there who will need to do the upgrade to the latest and greatest!

I'm not sure how much you improve on the older version, but I'm sure they've figured out some way :)!

What's weird to me is seeing these price drops in advance of black Friday since I expect to see some nice sales on both bodies and lenses starting at the end of this month and running through the Christmas holidays. Hopefully, they will uncouple lenses and bodies during those sales.

That said, I'm kind of turned off by the new AFS 24-70. It's even bigger and heavier than the old lens ... which is no lightweight itself.

The previous version definitely isn't a light weight lens...I'm sure the VR will help in some cases, but it will still be hard to improve on the results :)!
