Yes, you should go to Florence one day. It si much more manageable than Rome for instance, because it is a much smaller city. You can see and do everything just on foot.

No photos from that trip.  I was in the area for the world mountainbike championships and only managed a few hours in Florence.

Ive never been to Italy yet, but when I do, Florence is on my must see cities. Nice photos
