I have a Nikon D7000 which I purchased a number of years ago. I have been using Nikon Transfer 2 to transfer photos from camera to my pc which runs Windows XP. I have just upgraded to Windows 10 and have been told by Nikon today that they do not have a version of this software to run on Windows 10 and they don't know when it will be available.

Can anyone advise if there is another way I can transfer my photos without this software?

You shouldn't need any thing of software to transfer your files.  Just plug the camera in via USB, or insert the card, and drag-and-drop your latest photos to your disk.

Software such as lightroom makes importing a lot easier though, so I would recommend using that if you aren't already.

I second what Adam said. My workflow involves manually moving my images from the card (via my computer's built in card reader) to the PC and then using Lightroom to sort and organize them.

Agree...it is a simple file copy...On Windows or Mac, I pull the card, insert it into a card reader and move it to my system...from there I am free to edit as I choose, back up the images and format the card in camera for the next round of images...

Though isn't there a setting on the camera somewhere where you have to set it to .... something. So it just works as its own card reader.

Or just take the card out and use a card reader. generally faster anyway.
