I came home from my short trip to Rome and Florence last week. Here are some photos from Rome. Additional photos and photos from Florence will follow.

Awesome! I plan on going to Rome next year. May I ask Is Italy struggling with the Syrian migrant crisis? Did you see any homeless migrants?

Yes, you should visit Rome. I had an excellent time there.

No, I have not seen Syrian migrants in Rome or Florence. Before I left for Rome, I was told many of them were staying at the Termini train station (main station), but when I got there, they were not there.

There were many tourists in both cities and many tourist attractions were under renovation (the Colosseum, the Trevi fountain etc.) but that was about it as far as "bad" things goes.

But keep an eye on this topic to be sure. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the update. Rome is still on the agenda for next year, but I confess it's vulnerable should Islamic militants carry through on their threats. As much as I feel for them I don't want to see immigrants lying around either. A lot can happen between now and summer next year, but Italy as well as the migrants will be in my prayers!
