I'm not at home for the first couple of days so will not have acess to Photoshop. Hopefully I can find somewhere to read my card and upload from.

Sounds good. Will there be a cutoff of midnight to post by?

Nope. No cutoffs, just take a photo each day with your selected lens, and post it to the respective daily thread when you can.
If you miss a days shooting, thats not an issue either, it happens to us all. Don't worry, it's meant to be fun.
If you take multiple good shots on one day, share them all (well, a few of them... hehehe).

Adam says it is OK to just use this part of the forum, so in a few days I will post a mini tutorial on how to do the daily postings, and when it gets closer to November 1 I will create the first daily thread.
The numbers are building up. It will be fun. I have been participating on the PentaxForums challenge for over 3 years now, some might say it is even a little addictive
Now it's time to really get to know my Nikon camera and lenses.
ps
Some of us will be posting links to flickr photos, if you wish to comment on our photos you will need to get a free flickr account.
Jack.

OK, I'm going to try my hand at posting a mini-tutorial for everyone who wants to participate in the monthly challenge:
If you post your photos on this site, in the Gallery (in either your own collection, or in one of the other categories), we will need the BBcode of the shot.
If you go to the Gallery entry of your photo in your browser, you can click on the "Options" button (near right hand side), and then click on the "Share links" dropdown menu entry, and simply copy the BBCode (highlight the whole text, then click Ctrl-C on PC, or Command-C on Mac). Then all you have to do is paste the link in your daily thread entry using Ctrl-V on PC, or Command-V on Mac.
After you save your thread entry, it will show your photo in the entry, and anyone who views the photo just needs to click on the photo, they will be taken to the Gallery entry where they can make a comment.
Simple really.
Here is a shot I am posting using the above technique, feel free to click the photo and see what happens. Only nice comments please
If you are using Internet Explorer version 8, you may need to right click on the photo and select open image in a new tab.
This shot is 800x1200 and probably near the maximum friendly size for this challenge.
Flickr allows posting of much bigger shots, with choice of automatic downsizing of shot during the linking process.
Again, with flickr images we need the BBCode.
Bring up your shot on flickr, and click on the "share" icon below the shot (it looks like an arrow jumping out of a container), this will bring up a pop-up menu where you should select "Grab the HTML/BBCode" then check the BBCode box, choose an image size (1024x693 for example), then copy the BBCode using your favourite method, and simply paste it into your daily thread entry.
Here's one I posted before.
Clicking the photo will take you to my flickr page where you can comment and "fave" my image (hehehe), and view it in any size you like.
I hope my explanations are clear, I suggest everyone gives it a try in this thread before the challenge starts!
If members are using other photo sharing sites that allow comments, feel free to add the technique to this thread.
Jack

I'm in! Thanks for the reminder. I guess Nov 1 is coming up soon, eh? I'm just trying to decide which lens...

I'm giving the photo posting a try. Here's one from one of my galleries.
Man...that's huge. Gotta get control of my image size!
I feel like a bit of an idiot, but I can't figure out how to share via flickr. I think I don't see flickr quite the same way you do, jack. The share icon is not below the image--it's to the right. And I don't see a menu with "share links" as an option. Instead, I only see a bunch of icons for different platforms for sharing such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. Here's a screen capture of what I see:

Hi nbanjogal
That size is fine (looks good here on 1920x1200 monitor)
It seems you are trialling the "New flickr photo experience"
Unfortunately it won't allow copying and pasting the bb code required as you have stated.
The only way around that I can see is to "Opt out" of the new photo experience, and go back to the old way.
Perhaps some other users might find a workaround...

Well...the good news is that the new Flickr looks really cool.

I will give it a go, might struggle to get out every day but doing this may force me to.
Will be using my 18-55 i think.

Sounds like a great idea, I would be interested.
Tony, Jack is starting a new thread each day and posting a picture. Just drop your shot into that thread. Up above all this Jack gave some instructions on how to post it so you could receive comments.
I've already blown the first three days but I'll have something for today.
