lastolite vs softbox

Hello guys came across the lastolite skylite rapid and was wondering what would be the difference between something like that and a softbox

You can use a scrim as an improvised softbox but there is often some hard light that leaks around the scrim edge. The skylite rapids can be used more like umbrellas though... If you use mainly ambient light and only use flash now and again it can be used but a softbox or octabox is a better tool for getting soft flash.
