Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 29 March 2015, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style--just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

Also, come join us in the Editing Exercise thread--lots of fun over there.

Took a few different photos this week but I'll use this one. This is a picture of the sun setting over Perth, Western Australia from the hills to the east. I was staying in a house up in the hills and this was the sunset we were treated to each day.

Perth is known as the most isolated capital city in the world. There are so many extremely photogenic places around this city to photograph, but I was feeling terrible and cut my trip short and didn't get to do any of my photography that I had planned to do after I was finished with my obligations there. Such a shame to travel so far and miss out. But another time and I will do it properly then.

edit:

Adding this one as it was taken about 10 minutes after the Sunset photo.

Too bad you had to cut your trip short, but you certainly came back with some stunners! Those are really beautiful images--what amazing colors.

Are those panos that you've put together? Not that I can tell--I just know you've done that before, so I'm curious. I've never actually tried it, but I hope to find time to give it a go eventually.

No these are a single image using a 70-200mm because I was so far away.

The only one I'm reasonably happy with. Facebook friends seem to like it more than I do!

We had a trip out to our National Space Centre, and this guy was just hanging around outside.

I wrote my own software for this monochrome conversion. The image is taken with a RED filter over the lens with a Color camera, a Leica M8. Most Bayer filters use Red-Green-Blue dye that is sensitive much farther out in the spectrum than your normal software knows about. My software treats the three-channels differently, does less interpolation.

ANYWAY! I will also be trying this out on the Nikon Df uncompressed files. I can't deal with compressed files.

For the "total-geeks", I posted source code for the technique here:

Just a quick shot from an engagement session tonight.

Lots of flare…sigh.

Nice photos, guys.  I especially like those cityscapes, dcbear.  I am again in a rut, haven't been shooting.  I have all this expensive equipment that I'm not putting to use.  Here are a few from the travel camera, A6000.  One from the bad kit lens and one from a well regarded, bargain, prime.

Finally got caught up enough to export some of these and play catch-up!

I was relaxing and listening to some music after work and liked how the sky and tops of the trees looked so I grabbed my camera and took a few shots...

I then saw the sun on this small pine and grabbed a couple of shots of it as well...
