The load I pick up today delivers in Bordentown, New Jersey on Thursday, after which I'll be short on hours for a couple of days. I'm considering doing a reset there (msg me for an explanation if wanted). This would give me all day Friday to explore. I've done some research and can take a train into NYC, or I could go to the coast. While I have been to NYC before, it was strictly for work with no time to "see" it. I'd hoped that B&H or Adorama would have a cool workshop going on, but no luck. There is a store in NJ that is having a Nikon weekend, but short of having nikon reps there, it's nothing real exciting. Had no luck finding any other fantastic workshops either. There is a photo safari place that would give me a personal custom tour/workshop, but not sure how I feel about that.
Does anyone have any experience in the area with suggestions. I've researched and found some things to do that are free or reasonably priced. The downside is, currently there is a 90% chance of rain there on Friday, so not sure if this is even going to be worth it.

Well, you could probably spend the rainy day wandering B&H and / or Adorama Of course, that might get expensive...
I wish I could help more but don't know the area well enough...

The loads been redone since it took me 8 hrs to get loaded. Will have to see what the next load is before I can make plans.
I thought about getting to B&H and buying the D810, but it would cost me more to buy it there vs having it shipped. Plus I'm still conflicted on buying grey market. .

Well, my trip was enjoyable... yesterday. I'm paying for it today however. Walked about 10 miles, climbed 8 flights of stairs in the Empire State Building. Needless to say, I'm a little sore. Sadly most of the day, I was in tourist mode vs photographer. I haven't had time to go through my pics, but I'm not expecting anything spectacular.
B&H was impressive. Adorama was anticlimactic after B&H. I did buy a new backpack, because after an hour, mine was already starting to wear on me. Bought one of the new tamracs. Somewhere near the end of the day, I lost my monopod. Pretty sure it was when I took a picture for a group on top of Empire. Luckily it was super expensive.
Most of my shots were with the 15-30 mm Tamron. I'll try to post some later.

B&H just went up a notch in my book. A couple days ago, I got a request to fill out a customer experience survey, which I did. In addition to the normal questions that you rated them on certain things, it gave the option to tell what you liked and disliked, which I also filled out.
Today, I got a thank you email for filling it out. The impressive part was that someone actually responded to my comments, specifically. This was no very brief, bullet response.
These days, at least in my experience, is a very rare thing from a large company.

Yep, I agree. I'm sure they are read. But usually you get no response at all. And if you do, it's a canned response that doesn't even resemble what you said.

There is substance behind their legendary status when it comes to customer relations...
