Sigma 70-300 with a broken motor on D7100

I'm going to be upgrading to a D7100 before the spring. Currently shooting with a D3100. I have a Sigma 70-300mm lens with a broken autofocus motor. 

 

Since the D7100 has a built in motor, will that compensate for the broken motor in the lens and be able to autofocus?
