Hello everyone! So this issue is giving me a headache just thinking about it... I will be shooting in a large church with extreme mixed WB conditions (Tungsten and fluorescent). I will be using ambient as my main light and an on camera flash for fill light. I may have access to grey cards and color gels. How should I balance the WB of the speedlight on my subjects with the ambient light all around? Any help would be much appreciated.

Start out with white balance for Tungsten and gel the flash with a CTO or CT straw gel.

If there is too much fluo lighting, WB for fluorescent and a light green gel.

If the fluorescent sources are Daylight filtered (some of the more expensive are), definitely try a CT straw gel as he green spike is filtered out in the bulb or tube.

Do you use Lightroom? In that case you can adjust WB locally with the brush tool if your choice of gel isn't spot on.

If possible, I like to go in in advance of the shoot and try out my lighting setup with some test shots.

Ok, then do a manual WB from a grey card lit with both fluorescent and tungsten to find a workable medium. Use a Lee 219 or equivalent gel on the flash, maybe stacked with a CT straw.
