I took this photo last weekend at a local car show-drag race for pre-1970's production autos.  A Rambler drag car is a bit unusual.

1949 Nikkor 8.5cm F2, wide-open, 1/45s at ISO 10,000 with the Leica Monochrom. This lens is from the same batch that caught the attention of David Douglas Duncan to the Nikon factory, but he ended up buying the Nikkor 5cm F1.5 and 13.5cm F4.

I have set myself a task for 2015 to shoot something different each month, inspired by the project 52 concept. I've been creating myself a list of things to try and then breaking the ideas down into detail before I ven turn the camera on. origionally I had planned to do smoke for January and had an amaizing idea - which required certain elements unavailable to me at this moment, so it got pushed. Instead today I worked on the subject of pouring, or in this case dripping.

Simple set-up, glass vase with window to one side and a lamp to the other, black and white card to altenate backdrop. I got together a whole bunch of pouring devices and various liquids to try out. I settled after a batch of test shots, that my son's bath toy/siv worked well for pouring as it had very fine holes, meaning the viscous liquids had to settle first. This allowed me to get in position and fire. The prefered liquids were Glycerine and food colouring, and handwash in a squirty tub. I took around 1000 shots and it was really hard to throw any away, each one being unique. I narrowed down several favorites and then chose the above to share. Very fun, and I actually learned from it. Tri-pod, with manual focus got the best results.  Next week I'm trying paint/ink and a few others - plus I may try this set-up again with what I learned. If time permits!

Second shot, bit of fun again. A toy dinsoaur I was playing with, ended up looking like it's final moments when the comet struck!

Both images have been processed through LR4 and PS5.

Got a chance to wander around the neighborhood today - finally!  All shots with my D4 and 70-200, ISO 400 and hand held.

We started up by the pond where I captured this image...

Then we moved to the stable...

Saw a young lady playing around on her horse...

And then a horse in one of the pastures that was nicely lit by the fading sun...

Also posted one in the wild life challenge...can't wait to get more time shooting around here!

I have decided that this year I would finally get around to learn to use flashes. here are a couple from today

Rory-Racoon.jpg

1/200 f4.9 with  Albinar MDS Thyristor twin flash

My-little-corner-Bw.jpg

0.5 sec f 6.3 no flash converted to B/W

This 18-55 lens continues to amaze me .Both of these were taken with it and the D70.

I really like the detail in #2.  Comfy surroundings.
