Hi Guys, hoping you can help me.

I just got my new 5300 today and my father bought me a Yognuo 560-tx wireless controller to go with it.

I tried mounting it on the Nikon hotshoe and it didn't go on as effortlessly as I'd Imagined.

When I looked at the side of the box it has a sticker on that says 'For C'.

Now my father has shown me the order confirmation and he definitely order a nikon compatible controller.

I'm assuming that we've been sent the 'For Canon' controller. But when looking on the net theres a lot of info that the 560-tx isn't brand specific and should work on both a canon and nikon hotshoe.

Can anyone shed any light on this. Can the modle I've got work on the 5300 even though it's branded as 'for canon' or do I need to return for a replacement?

The only brand-specific function is the wake-up signal. This means that it works on all cameras if you turn off the sleep mode on your flashes.

I'm just a bot worried buy the fact that I have to force the 560-TX onto the Camera. Surely it should slide on relatively easily?

That is probably just a matter of tolerances. The hotshoes follow the same very old DIN standard everywhere when it comes to physical dimensions and the center pin... The additional pins are another matter. Cheap accessories just aren't made to the same tight tolerances as more expensive ones.

I've got some hotshoe brackets where my Yongnuo 565EX II just will not fit.

An example of Xmas Sod's law: I opened my Yongnuo this morning, I also opened a flash stand and umbrella bracket. Played about with things for a while, then went to get my Vivitar DF200 for extra flash power. The battery contacts were corroded, so I had to spend some time with the vinegar, cleaning them. New batteries in, capacitors charging, no flash! I spent an hour trying to get it to trigger, but it's dead :-(
