Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 21 December, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style--just give us your best shot.

PS: If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

I took this very ordinary and uninteresting picture yesterday near my home(for a homesick and nostalgic son who lives/works in Zambia),and didn't really see the colours of the near trees until I put it through the computer. It will remind me to look at nature with a little more care.

Sony Center

D610 Nikkor 24-120/4 28mm f5.6 1/125@ISO200

Capture taken this Week-End at the Sony Center in Berlin.
The "Christmas tree" lights were blue, making them almost invisible. Therefore I turned the capture to BW using a blue filter.

Very cool Peter!  What if any lighting did you do?  Love the ghostly person walking!

There are outdoor torches at the ends of the tee pad, a LED lightstick wrapped around the golfer's wrist and a LED on the disc itself. There are lightsticks mounted to the basket too. This is only the lighting needed for a night game, so it was more or less available light shooting. They sometimes use a 2000 lumen torch to check exactly where the low branches and trees are before teeing off, but the low light is one of the obstacles in this form of golf...

The ghost is the golfer teeing off. The streetlights are on a MUP that goes across the course.

Crappy, cropped iPhone photo, but got this while I was unpacking boxes at the new house this morning...now to get my gear out and be ready for the next deer to wander by...

Either way, I'll follow-up with a decent photo for the week...just wanted to prove we really are seeing deer :)

NC_Deer.jpg

OK...now a few hours later...I went up and got some pix of some of the horses out in the fields with my D600 and 24-70...Going to try to get some more tomorrow when it is supposed to be much nicer weather...All these were ISO 800, 1/125, f11.

Horses-5104.jpg

This was the only horse out without a "jacket"...wouldn't stop walking back and forth...

Horses-5108.jpg

Horses-5111.jpg

This one posed for me...

Horses-5121.jpg

I'm wondering if this one got next to the sign on purpose :)

Horses-5122.jpg

Sign cropped out in this one :)

Hoping for deer and more horses tomorrow along with better weather!

How do you find the lens Jerry.? Just a slightly better than usual general carry about lens or is it better than that?  (I am thinking of a purchase and trying to make up my mind -  this or a 70-200 f4 or f2.8).

The 24-120/4 has become my walkaround lens and it has never deceived me.

Going for a 24-120 or a 70-200 is a matter of the type of captures you take. I regularly take captures of architecture and landscapes and therefore need the wider end of the 24-120. If you are more in sports or wildlife, you will have a better use of a 70-200.

Regarding the 4 vs the 2.8 max aperture, it is a matter both of costs and weight versus captures in low light situations.

As mentioned, I use the 24-120/4 as walkaround, f.i. on a citywalk and there it is the perfect combination.

Visited Tucson, AZ yesterday  Took this shot of a Busker in an old section of the city.  He was giving it his all, and sounded quite good.

We went to my wife's family Christmas get together yesterday. I won't bore anyone with all the family shots. I did however take a shot of the table that offered the most woes for my diet.
