So I didn't even know this thread existed until today. How the heck did that happen?

My first (and probably last) attempt at newborn photography...

So many great photos on this thread. Scott, I love that photo of your wife. Obviously I don't know her, but you captured her in such a way that I feel like I could guess a few things about her personality.

Thanks Nicole :)

I love this photo of yours as well. Did you wait for the newborn to fall asleep before placing her on the little bed?

She was half asleep. Her mom was trying to arrange her and she just wasn't sleeping deeply enough to relax. She kept waking up. I only got a few shots in before she woke up for good--rather unhappily--and we decided to reshoot a couple days later. Not much better then unfortunately. We tried making sure she was warm, well fed, and comfy, but nothing seemed to help. I've never particularly been drawn to newborn photography, and this little non-experience kind of confirmed it's not really for me.

Haha, I feel the same way about wedding photography.

Portrait photography would be much easier if people would just pose the way you want and not move at all.

In other words, it would work a lot better without any people involved. :)

greatscott,

You have a knack for this sort of thing.  I just ran across this thread, today.  Maybe I should get off my butt and post some.

I remember this thread, but forgot about it.  I've often found that babies are difficult to capture, as they can take forever to get into a position that flatters them the most.

This was taken with a Samsung NX20 and 45mm f1.8 lens.

No fancy lighting setup or backgrounds, but here are a few family snaps. (D600 with 85/1.8G and 50/1.8D)
