I thought I'd create a thread where people can share their most recent portrait for the rest of us to enjoy. We can ask questions, share tips or simply admire each others work.

 

Keep in mind I specifically didn't create a "your favorite" portrait thread, this was done with intent because I would like us to inspire each other to get out and shoot as opposed to just digging through our archives.

 

Let me start, heres a portrait I made over the weekend of my mom. I like it because my mom is an artist and I think this portrait reflects (or should I say warps) her personality. I took this photo with my Nikon D800 and my Nikkor 24-70 2.8 lens.

Love this photo. Mind telling me what your lighting setup was? Obviously there's the incandescent light as well as a light behind. Did you use more than 2 lights? Umbrella or softbox?

Thanks for the comment. About the setup :

 

Incandescent light (continuous indeed) in the hands of the model. - 40 watts

 

6' high x 3' wide softbox behind him - 1/128 power

 

Flash unit behind model bounce on ceiling - 1/32 power

 

Both flash units triggered by cactus V5

This is my daughter and was taken just after she finished running a water fountain on a hot day in the summer. It was taken with my D800 and my 24-70 2.8.
