I have a question using Micro close up small object shooting daylight. Which lens does some prefer?

Depends on how small the objects are and what they are.

  • If 1:2 scale is sufficient and I don't have to use a reflector to even out the light the old 55/3.5 MicroNikkor is nice.
  • If I need more distance I like to use the equally old 105/4 because it is unit-focusing and therefore does not change focal length when focusing closer.
  • If I need more magnification than 1:2 the 105/2.8 AI is better because of the brighter viewfinder.

I like manual focus for macros and the AI lenses are easier to focus manually than the more modern AIS or AF versions.

  • When hunting insects I use the 200/4 AF-D, simply for the greater distance and the convenience of autofocus.

For super close ups I use a 40mm macro.
