They Are part of an old world war 2 anti submarine defence system, with the main bunker placed on the island.

If the water rises all the way up to the high mark that is one SERIOUS tide!

It's a very high tide, also comes in very quickly. Lots of people have to get rescued from the island every year as they get stranded.

I love these, Rob! Very striking. Now you've made me want to visit this island. I think that's what most landscape photographers hope for isn't it--to make people wish they were there?

Thanks. It's a great place to visit. Very windswept though but the views of the coast are fantastic. I planned to go back and take some pictures from the other side of the island.
