I was shooting a wedding and during the ceremony my Nikkon D800 which was working as expected all of the sudden stopped working (grabbed my backup immediately). The problem: Every picture I take shows as a solid red in the playback screen. It's not like it's a red hue over images, it's just a solid red burgundy color. I switched modes from Manual to A,P,S, put a new battery in, and also changed memory cards out with the same "red screen" result. I'm hoping that I just bumped a magical setting but wanted to try the forums because Google didn't help. Suggestions?

Try doing a factory settings reset and format the memory card just in case. This kind of an anomaly sounds like a sensor-related hardware problem, but you want to be sure of that before sending the camera in
Also, check the RAW files on your PC- are they also solid red, or is there image data?

Yikes how scary! Sure you weren't too close to the red dresses of the bridesmaids?
Be interested to hear whether the raw files are the same.

I was thinking the same thing...it could be that the issue is the LCD and not the images themselves...do let us know...it also might help if you post an image as an example...

Follow up:
I imported the pictures and the RAW files do show a solid red "picture" as the image on my PC as they do in the camera LCD. We called Nikon/Adorama for a replacement D800.
I tried the factory 2 button reset (Qual and +/-) and the issue persists. Another interesting troubleshooting step uncovered is that changing the ISO has a different result. When shooting at ISO 1600 and above I get the solid red screen. Under ISO 1600 it just shows a solid black screen. I attached a quick phone picture of the red screen. Don't judge me on the quality of the picture!

Thanks for the followup. That's amazing. I don't think I've ever heard of that happening before. Hopefully, you won't have any problem getting the camera replaced. Something is seriously farkled there.
Good luck!
