Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 7 September, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style--just give us your best shot.

PS: If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

PPS: Don't forget to try out the editing mini-challenge!

I love that little dude's haircut! He looks like he's out of the 1800s or something.

My neighbors are moving, and as a little going-away gift, we did a lifestyle photo shoot so they could have some fun photos to document what it was like to live in this little old house. Here's one of the images from this session:

OK...another busy week, but managed to shoot and process volleyball (Freshman, JV, and Varsity!) among other things like work...In the past, I've shot for the high school, but this year I've spread my wings a bit and shot these for a client who actually paid me to shoot them.  Of course, they want basic post processing, but they want the option of cropping themselves...that almost made the post-processing more difficult!  In any case, after all that, I went back and cropped a few of them to post here...Overall I was pretty happy with with the shoot...It was kind of difficult shooting both Freshman and JV as they play in different gyms at the same time and they play best of 3 while Varsity plays best of 5.  In this case, both home teams won their first two, so it was tough to grab enough good shots of both of those teams!  The photos below are all Varsity photos that I shot with my D4 and 70-200 at f2.8.  I did play around with some different settings just to see what I got...

Volleyball-3071.jpg

ISO 6400, 145mm, 1/1600

Volleyball-3120.jpg

ISO 6400, 160mm, 1/1250

ISO 6400, 90mm, 1/1250

Volleyball-3243.jpg

ISO 6400, 102mm, 1/1250

Volleyball-3271.jpg

ISO 6400, 140mm, 1/1250

Volleyball-3339.jpg

ISO 6400, 170mm, 1/1250

Volleyball-3438.jpg

ISO 6400, 200mm, 1/1250

Despite the photos I posted, I tried several other ISO settings and shot as slow as 1/1000 and up to 1/2500

Hopefully I'll get some time to shoot some more sports this coming week...sorry for the big # of images this week, but didn't want to try to pick :)!

I like the first one where you placed the school name on the net in the photo.  They have to love that.

I don't know yet since this is the only one they've seen--I hope they will like them. They've said they love this one at least. :) Just grabbed one that caught my eye to give them a quick peek. I've got a few other sessions to edit in front of this one plus a couple more to shoot, so it will be a couple weeks before they see the rest.

Funny - the school name actually repeats all the way across the net (on both sides) so there are several shots that have the name pretty well.  In looking at the images today, I'm not sure why I ended up posting so many of players serving, but I guess I was just rushing before our friends came into town...Last night was the first football game of the season and I chose not to go shoot the game (about an hour's drive away).  Next week I'm hoping to shoot some football though...It is a very different fall for us for many reasons (including having no kids at home!) but I am looking forward to getting out and shooting some football...
