Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 31 August, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style--just give us your best shot.

PS: If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

PPS: Don't forget to try out the editing mini-challenge!

Yesterday is probably the only day I will be able to get out and shoot this week, so thought I would go ahead and post. This pic was taken early in the morning when this little lady wandered in front of me. I loved the little "notch" in her ear and that you could see her eyelashes (would kill to have ones just like that...lol!)
Taken with a Nikon d5100 and 55-300mm lens
  f/stop 5.6
  shutter speed 1/500th
 and iso 1100

Went out last night with a friend to see if we could get the Milky Way over the Spiral Jetty. Clouds showed up and chased us away before the Milky Way got into a better position, darn it. Lots of noise and light pollution--and a storm camera left…oh well! It was still a fun adventure--I've never been out to the Spiral Jetty before, so that was cool.

I really think I'm going to have to break down and get that 14-24mm...

Mine might come in late this week as I'm going to be crazy busy for the rest of the week...BUT, I am shooting tomorrow night and will get something posted at some point!

Took this in New York while walking Rowdy. I'll add the non cropped version, but I really like the cropped image. Really makes me want a macro lens.

Really makes me want a macro lens.

Buy an inexpensive macro lens and don't look back... they totally open up new worlds for you to shoot.

Tamron makes a few good ones; the 90mm VC being the most obvious. I like and often recommend the Tammy 60mm f2.0. Sigma also makes a very handy 50mm f2.8 which shouldn't be over-looked.

Here is a silhouette capture of the cat, when it was sitting next to the window.

Initially it was more about trying the lensadapter, but then it turned out that this gave a nice result.

Both are super cool, Peter! I think I like the second one if only because I can see the bottom of the water drop. I love what the blue gel did! I still haven't done much with my gels…this is inspiring to see!

I like the first one better myself Peter. Cool shots though and I like the blue lighting to it.

Cool shot Peter.

I prefer the second one, as it has the full drop with some reflection in the lower end, but also because on the larger upper end of the drop it allows to have the filter reflected. Not to mention the square white point which nicely stands out of the black.
