Well I think I can call myself a published photography after 3 of my photos were printed in a local newspaper.

Nothing exceptional - just somehting from a local school shoot I did for the company I work with. Have to say it is strange seeing them in print and they looked like they belonged (not out of place) - I dare not say professional, but fitting!

I'm in England, things are perhaps different here. Just about still have them - the coverage gets smallers each year.

It was said tongue in cheek. However, as things become more and more digital and on line the use of actual paper will lessen to nothing. And maybe that's a good thing? I've lived within a couple of miles from a paper mill and it stinks! Literally!

Awesome man, nothing beats that feeling of seeing your work in print for the first time!

By popular demand! Not the best scan I'm afraid.

Local paper or not they should have given you credit by putting your name in the bottom right hand corner of the photos. Or anywhere for that matter.

Hadn't thought about that. I wasn't aware the image had be used until about two weeks after it was in print either.

That's how people/firms get sued in the USA. Their is an implied copyright that either gets you permission, recognition, or compensation. Being the local paper I'm sure you would have granted permission, but to just take it and use it is wrong.

I think a phone call is in order. How did they get the original files?

I work for the company in the article, so technically the company own the pics. The department behind the competition released the pics. But nobody decided to tell me. Nothing illegal has happened.

A good lawyer could find something illegal in there! That said I'm glad you're not feeling ripped off.
