Great shots! What lens r u using for the close ups and for the birds?
thanks jrzayas. i currently have only one lens for my nikon d7000. it is the Nikkor 18-200 mm. it is great for so many occassions. the best lens i have had yet also (compared to all the lenses i had with the olympus system i used to run).

Wow, I have the same lens but when I use it on my D700 it only uses the center of the sensor and my MPs gets cut down also.

thats very interesting jrzayas. im not sure what might cause that with your lens to camera. maybe some strange setting is being activated when the lens is attached. you may wish to start a thread in the technical troubleshooting section for advice to correct that.

Wow nice photos, all handheld?
thanks Raul. yes all hand held except for the Heron w reflection photo. I captured that one from the driver seat with a little car door support.

Nice shots! For birds, I often find that 200mm is still quite small with a full frame. Roughly how much did you crop? Just wondering.

for the hawk, i probably cropped 1/2 the image out. it was approx 25 - 30 yards up. the heron is a no crop and was about 20 yards also. much larger bird than the hawk. Possibly a 1/3 crop on the insects and gator, maybe less.

Thanks for sharing, these subjects are right up my alley. I started with an 18-200mm, it's a great versatile lens!

The camera isn't setting to DX format when the lens is attached is it? This might explain the reduction in MP, I think the D700 goes down to about 5MP in DX mode
Greg - lovely set of shots - bird in flight is great
