Great idea Kenafein!

That is what I currently do is drop the red and orange, but didn't know about the selection tool - unless you mean the brush?

I'd love my portraits to have that pastel look.

Vibrance or saturation. Probably a combination of the two... The D800 with it's high pixel count is probably more of a hindrance than an asset when looking for a muted result at screen resolution, Reducing size usually gives higher contrast and more saturated colours.

There's quite a bit more done then vibrancy and or saturation.

I start creating my own presets off the SLR Lounge set of base presets. They have done an amazing job creating virtual layers like in photoshop. It allows you to build a look within seconds and save as your own preset. It has allowed me to refine my post processing down to a few seconds to a minute per photo.

Having said that I'm only speaking about my color processing. My B&W conversions and headshots take a lot more time and is very involving.

Cheers

Great pictures here already! I'm glad that members are posting them regularly :)

This is my pick for this week:

I use the SLR lounge stuff too, so many possibilities. Just wish I had more time to play with them.

Cool shot Serge. Where is that?

Wow!! Out-freakin-standing!! Fantastic set, and I love the write up. Well done, man. Well done.

Nice use of the fisheye too.

Great timing as well. ;)

Fantastic! That was a great read and a visual treat. I've really only been to New England once, but you definitely make me want to visit again. I'm so intrigued by these battleships--and a sub! I'd love to see it. Though I'm super claustrophobic…so I don't know if I could do it. Nice work, though; with such close quarters, I think a fisheye is the only way to go, eh?

Thanks, Nicole.  I'm a bit claustrophobic, too, but there was just enough space to not feel so cramped.  Although, the submarine was extremely tight quarters.  Once you get in there and there's people ahead of you, it makes you feel even more trapped.   I would be able to go out to sea on the battleship, but never in the sub.

I certainly needed the 10mm angle of view in many of the rooms and exhibits!  A wide angle of some type would be a must inside.

I didn't do much photographically this week…just squeezed this one in last night. This is for my latest Project 52 Pros assignment--the task was to show something being made by hand, with the focus on the hands. I was able to photograph a weaver working on an old Scandinavian loom. Kind of cool.

Didn't get a chance to take many shots last week, even with having my camera with me most days. However, this is my best pic, not technically the best shot on earth ....but It made my weekend to see my little girl and watching her learning to walk.

Rob, they are lovely--the light is beautiful, as is your little girl. And what great moments to capture! These photos will be a treasure in years to come.
