None of the above. I was a full time professional photographer for 35 years over a time span of 50 years. During the 15 years I was not a full time pro, I was a photographer-reporter or photographer-editor for a few years and did some other things for a few years. I'm retired now. Since retiring I have managed to rescue (not collect) a whole lot of camera gear, more than I can ever use. I found a 1960s Nikkor 50mm f1.4 and got it for basically nothing and also got real bargains on Nikkor 80-200 f2.8 and 20mm f2.8 20mm lenses. These I do use. I also have a dozen Minoltas, a near-new Olympus OM10 with several lenses and the gizmo that lets you set fstop and shutter speed. I have a specially-modified Yashicamat used by a major wire service in olde days before the Nikon F and a really cosmetically sharp Rolleiflex. I also have my Nikon F with the motor/battery pack that I used to shoot a Muhammad Ali title fight and Elvis (to mention just a couple of assignments.)

I have written a novel about Hollywood in the good/bad all days and once I launch that I think I will work on a photo book of my celeb and news photos. More tired than retired, I guess.

Sounds like an interesting and eventful life. Wouldn't mind reading some stories if you ever feel like sharing.

As the old blues song goes, "I've been in some big towns and heard me some big talk...." I'm trying to "get" Photoshop so I can add some pix to these pages. I'd like to post my olde Nikon F with motor drive to the "post your Nikon" thread but my new superduper Sigma Macro does not want to play nice with my digital Nikons. Works great on my N2000. How difficult can it be? For a guy who forgets to put the water in the coffeemaker before he plugs it in? I'm working on it.

A for me. We photograph dog shows. Only have to work 12 weekends a year, so lots of time off.

I'm in the B category but as a videographer and owner of a facility where other videographers and photographers can rent by the day (complete with provided meals and lodging) for their own work. I am retired from my career job but my activity in photography goes back more than 50 years to my high school days.

Well it seems you need to provide a category E.  Which I certainly am firmly implanted and that is having to pay folks to take my awful photographs off of my hands.  )

In high school I was so crazed about photography I got a job as a darkroom assistant in a local wedding 'emporium' where I pestered the owner so much he finally let me start shooting weddings. In college I shot traditional yearbook stuff and art classes. I shot all the 35mm slides for classroom presentations. Before "PowerPoint" classroom presentations were done in 35mm slides usually for the art department but also the science and technical departments. After college my intensity waned and I only shot family or vacation shots (very artistically).  Getting back into it now that I'm retired.

 

I did one wedding. It was "Star Wars" themed. Does that count?

D, but a lot of my photos are used to sell cameras, lenses, etc. - not selling the photos themselves, but the photos are proof that the thing works.

I have been a "A" for 40 years and counting. Nowadays,
I restrict my activities to one corporate client a day until
the boys are ready to take over — then, I will only assist
them and keep an eye on PP… until they retire me.

Back in my film days I've had some photo credits in the local paper, but wasn't paid for them and didn't care to be.  It's a hobby I consider fun and enjoyable, I don't want it to become work so I'm a proud and stubborn D and like it that way.

From my questions everyone knows I am D ... I enjoyed taking pictures since childhood. when my first child was born I got a Canon AE1 Program, took a lot of pictures, but with having to pay for development it was limited, then digital cameras came and I clicked all the time of my boys and then grand children. Never really know much of what I was doing, just figured if you take enough your bound to get a good one out of the group. When I finally got my SLR , I really want to learn how to use and how it works. Would like to do something with family shots, children at play, natural settings. Would never want to do things like weddings where you have the one time to get it right, too much pressure.
