Sry I compressed the file down. It was a 73.9 mb tiff file and now its a 1.3 mb jpeg file.   :(  It doesn't look as sharp on here when you expand the picture. I used the Nikon 80-400mm today.

Even compressed it looks pretty dang sharp. You're shooting a D800, right? Man, I gotta get one of those. :)

Daniel, the problem with high-pixelcount sensors is downrezzing for the web. What algorithm did you use, and did you apply some unsharp mask sharpening to sharpen for screen?

I did not use the sharpen or the unmask sharpen tool. I clipped the bottom part of the wing from the RAW file. After the RAW was saved to TIFF the file was 73.9 mb and then I resized the image to make it smaller and re saved to make into a 1.3 mb jpeg file. Will re process after I eat. I am doing the chicken and need some supper. I think I had to much fresh air today, so going down to the restaurant for something to eat first.

I have found Bicubic Sharper downsampling to work better than the default Bicubic Auto when resizing D800 files in PS. This followed by a *little* bit of USM sharpening often gives nice and crisp results without overcooking it. On bird pictures, even Nearest Neighbor can work but it is easy to get that oversharpened compact camera feel that way.

For an entry level SLR, the D3200 makes some impressive images.

I sincerely doubt too may of the Nikon "experts" can really tell what body you are using most of the time anyway.

I would love to have one myself; then I would have three bodies to play with!

I love the D3200 as it has a guide mode, so when I started out I could see what it was I needed to be thinking about. I don't use it now and shoot in Aperture or shutter modes, but it was a nice in-between mode. I was always under the impression you can great shots with whatever camera, and it was the lens that made the difference. There are a few fetaures lacking from the 'better' models, but it doesn't stop me getting the shots I want.

D800 is on my wish list...

I snapped about 1000 shots over the weekend and here's my pick... choosing one proves difficult.

Mr_Leeman, I can feel your pain in having to choose...I'm at about 5500 frames this week so far and will end up around 8000 by the end of the day tomorrow assuming they don't cancel tonight's lacrosse game or tomorrow's wedding!

I may end up posting some more once I get through more of the pix, but I'm going to start out with two - one baseball and one softball (also shot tennis, soccer and a couple of lacrosse games already this week)..

Both shot with my D600s on the same night - other details with each...

Sportz, impeccable timing as usual in the pictures you show us. I can feel the pain also. I haven't shot much sports, but I *have* shot jousting tournaments where 2000 shots per day is about the minimum to be sure you have the caught the interesting action.

Welcome to the site and to the mini-challenge!

Both good photos, would you like to share some EXIF info like shutter speed, aperture, ISO, what lens and what body you've used?

Amit, I liked all three of yours, but the B/W fisherman is outstanding.

Hello!

Here is my little experiment from Monday :) I saw this passage and decided to take 2 separate photos and then merge them during PP.

D610, f/7.1, ISO200, 4sec exposure (on both :) )

I shot the picture of the Japanese White-eye with a D800 with the AFS 70-200 F4, ISO: 2500, F8, and 1/160.

and the picture of the Snow monkeys with aD800 and the AFS 70-200 F4, ISO:640 at F4 and 1/1000.

Thanks!

My photos fall well short of the bar that is set around here, but this was my favorite of the ones that I shot this week.
