That's the beauty of a wide angle lens.

Wait, Merco, if that is really you in the second row, how did you get the shot? Are you secretly holding a remote release?

I could have used a radio remote, but the interval setting on the D300 is a powerful tool. Setting up a delay of about a minute to get in place without running solves the problem of getting in the shot yourself and then letting the camera do several bursts of five exposures with a delay between bursts to clear the cache gives a series where you can pick the one where everybody looks awake :). I did 95 photos in this series.

To get the same DOF and FOV with the D700 I would have had to use a 35 mm lens at about f/6.3 and ISO 1600 to get the same exposure time. DX is definitely useful still, not only for reach with teles.

Here's one of my daughter Katie.  Of course I'm biased on the subject matter.

Wow!  I had LOTS of photography planned this week, but the weather chose not to cooperate...In the first 10 days of the spring sports season, our county alone canceled 160 games.  But, I had a backup plan - that totally fell through...Today, I came up with another idea, but decided against it, not wanting to drag my gear out in the rain, sleet and snow that were falling when we left the house.  Ended up taking some pix on my phone of a pup that we are in the process of adopting...I promise to get back to higher end photos next week!   :)

Rugby season is underway. This guy totally missed the player he was trying to tackle...

Kind of a tough choice this week but I think this one is the one I liked best:

13522381753_41a8fcac4b.jpg

Camera: D5200

Lens: Sigma 70-200 mm F/2.8 with OS

Shutter Speed: 1/2000

ISO: 2000

I was actually hoping to catch him taking off so I had upped the shutter speed, but sadly he had other ideas entirely... lol

I spent more time editing than I did photographing…yuck. Not too many photos this week

So apparently you can no longer opt out of Flickr's new look--does anyone know of a way to get the BB information? I can't see any possibility of doing so with this cruddy new interface. I may be done with Flickr…not such a big deal--I didn't use it much anyway, but it was nice to be able to post big pictures on the forum. :)

D600

50mm 1.4

f5.0

1/160

My exif says the flash did not fire…I guess the D600 doesn't recognize my YN trigger and flash, eh? Or maybe any off-camera flash? Dunno...

Nicole, does the YN unit have the Nikon-specific communication pins or does it, like my skyports only have a center pin for sync. Without communication, the EXIF will be incorrect.

Hello!

A bit late (very busy week and weekend), but here it goes :)

Little background: from time to time I'm setting up myself a little challenge: short walk with the camera around my neighborhood and only 1 picture allowed :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, my favorite this week is: "Framed Pigeon" :)

Peter, I'm not sure. I know I had to buy Nikon-specific flashes and triggers…I also see more than one center pin. I have never had any flash data from my YNs, even when the flash was in the hot shoe rather than off-camera with a trigger. Interesting.
