That timelapse technique looks very cool. It really lets you appreciate the eclipse, as long as you can find an appealing foreground

I got a decent shot of the lunar eclipse using my d3200. It's not perfect, but it was shot using an outa the box camera and lens. A new D800 and a better lens could have improved the shot tremendously. There was also a slight motion issue, so maybe a better tripod too!
