When I look at photographs, especially contest photos/images, I look for subject matter, natural light used, lens flare, how flash has been used, any traces of photo editing (as I believe the photograph/image should be judged on the skill of the photographer and how well they use and know their camera, not how well they know how to use Photoshop). clarity and sharpness/softness, pose and how I am drawn into the image. There are a few really good images in the final 15 selected for February so good luck to all the contestants.

As usual the images are great!

Admittedly the spider silhouette was one of my top 3, and so it is unfortunate, might I say surprising, that it didn't make the cut.

It was in my short list too! Disappointed not to see it here.

One of the rules is that pictures must be taken with a Nikon camera - the spider was taken with an Olympus according to the uploaded data.

It's a real thrill to be among the finalists again, especially when there are so many great photos submitted.

Yeah, sorry about that. I swapped camera brands around that point and never bothered to check to see if it was from my Nikon or Oly.

sigh...

Thanks for remembering / liking the shot though. Next time I'll make sure I actually took the pic with my Nikon ;)

Or ... *shifts eyes suspiciously* ... change the EXIF data!  :P  LOL
