Sunday evening it started raining and it changed to freezing rain overnight...eventually to snow for most of Monday...

I was doing my "real" job when my wife told me to grab my camera to see if I could get some pix of a cardinal in a tree near the house.  Shooting through the snow (and the window) wasn't particularly easy and it wasn't exactly close...but, I got a few decent shots...My wife is now painting the second shot below.

It flew to another tree then took off again...

Another cardinal was hiding behind some branches, but I kind of liked the shot...

Great work--especially for one of those "grab your camera" moments. Love how the red contrasts so nicely with the green. That second image should make a lovely painting. You'll have to take a picture when your wife is finished with it.

Thanks Nicole...I was happy I got some decent ones but didn't feel like I got "the" shot that I wanted...mostly I rushed as I didn't want to take too much time when I was really supposed to be working!

I love cardinals. I have one that sings to sleep and wakes me in the morning.
