I can hope :)

They would have to be out of this world deals, like 80% reduction if I was to have any hope of getting one at the moment.

I am hoping...I do think there will be some used D4 bodies that will be "reasonable" - whatever that means when you are talking a camera body for $6500 new (ok - now $6000 new)!!!  Hoping a friend takes pity on me and sells me their used D4 bodies cheap!  I'm guessing my friend will be upgrading to the D4s but I'm not positive...

I'm kind of surprised they didn't up the megapixels although I expect they did get input from the pros suggesting they didn't want any larger files to deal with.  What surprises me most is the battery life.  Eleven frames per second and just over 3000 frame battery life...Most won't hit that in a game, but some will.  The specifications state that it can shoot about 200 JPG images prior to filling the buffer, but if you assume the buffer doesn't fill, that means the battery would need charging after about 5 minutes (3060 frames / 11 fps = 278 seconds or just under 5 minutes).  It is significantly higher than the 900 images on my D600, but with grip I have two batteries that doubles my capacity.  All that said, I know I've shot well over the 900 images per battery - probably closer to twice that number per battery - with my D600 and still had battery left to shoot.

I was readying a preview blog/somethingorrather yesterday on the D4s, and it was saying that it was going to be 24MP.   I was in a bit of disbelief.   Bumping it up to 24 MP would be something to get especially giddy about.  If I had an extra $6500 right now, I would have a new D4s (or be on the list for one).  As it is, I will have to "settle" for a used/refurbished D4.  LOL  (And be completely happy).

At least just as soon as I sell my one good kidney.

My thoughts exactly Thumper!  I read a write-up from a Nikon Rumors link and it definitely said 24mp so I was a bit surprised when I read the specs on the Nikon site late last night...not suggesting it NEEDS 24mp, but I thought they would bump it up...I'm just hoping it creates a bunch of used D4 sales so they aren't a premium anymore!  I expect I could be happy with either D4 or D4s and it may be I'll have the choice because the D5 will probably be out before I can get either of the other two!

16MB is plenty big enough in my opinion. Quite brave of Nikon to jump off the more megapixels is better train. Not that I could ever afford one of these and, in any case, it's clearly not aimed at amateurs like me.

This camera is mainly for the paparazzi, news, and sports photographers. It's built for those professionals who require it, but for the rest of us, we can take photos just fine for a lot less cash.   :)

I saw a D4 on Ebay at a rather low price (for that camera).
