I want to upgrade to full frame but am not sure which route to go and I am on a budget. I mostly shoot natural light portraits and concerts. Occasional landscapes when on vacation. I usually use spot metering and single point autofocus
Reasons I'm thinking D700: I currently shoot with a D200 and from what I understand and what I can see in photos of the D700 is that most of the buttons are the same or at least very similar in layout. I like the fact that the D700 has a 51 point autofocus system and that it has a better build quality. Video doesn't matter to me. More of a professional grade camera
Reasons I'm thinking D610: Newer camera. 100% viewfinder. Probably better low light performance. More resolution isn't a big deal to me but I guess its nice to have.
Pros for D700: Cheaper to find one used than D610. 51 point autofocus
Cons: Older camera
Pros for D610: Newer camera, better in low light
Cons: More expensive. Less autofocus points and I've heard they're clustered together
What do you think? Is the D700 still up to par with current cameras or would it be worth the extra $500 or so to get a D610? I'm probably going to rent both before making a purchase but would like to hear what you guys have to say
