Welcome, Marley. The weather is definitely and interesting subject to photograph.
Thank you Kindly. Mother natures beaty got me at an early age.
Hi marley, welcome to the forum. Great pictures. I've yet to get the chance to capture a still image of a lightning bolt..I have plenty on video though.
I love your second shot, the cloud formation has real motion to it...very cool.
It is largely a blue flash but it was lightning never the less, lovely to meet a fellow enthusiast. Thanks for the kind words.
Welcome to the Forum Marley and you bring another interesting topic to the group. As a matter of interest do you live in North or South Island? My brother has lived in Wellington for the past 30 years or so and understand things have been quite shakey down your way. Like your images and similiar to Rob prefer the second shot.
Thats cool, thank you as well. Top of the South Island, I am around the Nelson/Tasman region and earthquakes have been significant. 2 of them have been accompanied by gale force winds. One instance had 2 quakes within seconds of each other (registered 7.0 about 4-600km north). when the first one passed over you accepted the noise as stormy weather without registering, when the second wave came along and winds picked back up yet again, that was an indicator of the strength of these; the energy was travelling above ground. I am formerly of Hawkes Bay and have experienced quakes my entire life but never with that phenomena up until this point, which was last year.
Thank you all.
